With the development of industry, commerce, medical and other fields, refrigeration equipment is becoming more and more popular, among which chillers are an important equipment used for refrigeration. Generally speaking, chillers are divided into two types: air-cooled chillers and water-cooled chillers.
1. Definition of air and water cooled chillers
Air-cooled chillers and water-cooled chillers are both equipment used for refrigeration. They dissipate heat through wind and water respectively to achieve cooling effect. Among them, the air-cooled chiller uses air as the cooling medium, and sends the air into the machine after treatment, and takes away the heat through multiple circulating fans in the machine; the water-cooled chiller uses water to dissipate heat and reduce the heat. so that the machine can operate normally.
2. Heat dissipation methods of air and water cooled chillers
The main difference between air-cooled chillers and water-cooled chillers is the heat dissipation method. The heat dissipation method of air-cooled chillers is achieved through a combination of natural convection and forced ventilation. The cooler is placed on the chassis together with the motor, and the heat accumulated in the compressor, condenser and evaporator is discharged through forced ventilation. Water-cooled chillers require water to dissipate heat. Water is sent to the cooler through a water pump, circulated and sent back. The heat dissipation effect of water-cooled chillers is better, but relatively speaking, the heat dissipation efficiency of this machine is not as good as that of air-cooled chillers.
3. Cooling efficiency of air and water cooled chillers
The cooling efficiency of air-cooled chillers and water-cooled chillers is also different. Air-cooled chillers have higher cooling efficiency than water-cooled chillers and can easily meet large-scale cooling needs. This is because air-cooled chillers do not require large amounts of water and electricity supplies, nor do they require equipment such as specialized cooling towers and water pumps. The water-cooled chiller has higher cooling efficiency because it needs to process a large amount of water and the heat dissipation effect will be better. However, since water-cooled chillers need to be used with other equipment, including water pumps, cooling towers, etc., their costs are higher.
4. Safety of air and water cooled chillers
Air-cooled chillers and water-cooled chillers also differ in terms of safety. Since air-cooled chillers do not require large amounts of water and equipment such as water pumps, they have some advantages in terms of safety. This is because equipment such as water pumps and water towers are difficult to operate. Once handled improperly, accidents are prone to occur. The air-cooled chiller is relatively simpler, less difficult to operate and safer.
5. Maintenance of air and water cooled chillers
In terms of maintenance, both air-cooled chillers and water-cooled chillers need to be regularly inspected, maintained and cleaned according to actual conditions; and the installation area should be kept clean to avoid long-term accumulation of dust that affects the heat dissipation effect. But relatively speaking, water-cooled chillers need to process more water, and require regular maintenance of water pumps, cooling towers and other ancillary equipment. Therefore, in terms of maintenance difficulty, water-cooled chillers are relatively higher.
To sum up, air-cooled chillers are mainly suitable for some small and flexible occasions, such as classrooms, offices, shopping malls, etc. Water-cooled chillers are suitable for occasions with large demand and higher refrigeration effect requirements, such as some industrial and medical fields. The final decision depends on your specific needs and circumstances.
