Cryogenic Cooling Systems
Overview
Cryogenic cooling systems are widely used in scientific research, aerospace, semiconductor manufacturing and other fields. The working principle of this system is to use four working fluids to achieve the refrigeration process, including refrigerant, fluid, adsorbent and solid.
The functions of the four working fluids
1. Refrigerant: It plays the role of heat transfer medium in the refrigeration system, allowing high-temperature heat to flow to low-temperature areas, thereby achieving the refrigeration effect. Commonly used refrigerants include ammonia, helium, carbon dioxide, etc.
2. Fluid: The cryogenic cooling system transfers heat by circulating fluid to achieve temperature reduction. The fluid should generally have the characteristics of low viscosity, high purity, and try not to adsorb or pollute the refrigeration system.
3. Adsorbent: This working fluid is used to adsorb steam in low-temperature areas, thereby reducing the pressure of gases in low-temperature areas and providing power for refrigeration. In refrigeration systems, commonly used adsorbents include calcium fumarate, etc.
4. Solid: The solid working fluid in the cryogenic cooling system is often a superconducting material. By keeping the conductor in a superconducting state, a cooling effect with low power consumption and high efficiency can be achieved.
Function and composition of cryogenic cooling system
1. Refrigeration unit: It is composed of compressor, condenser and other components, and is mainly used for pressurization and cooling.
2. Cooler: used to provide low temperature and make the fluid in the refrigeration system follow a specific cycle, so that the temperature can be reduced to an extremely low level.
3. Refrigerant: used to absorb heat in low-temperature areas and then release heat in high-temperature areas. Commonly used refrigerants include hydrogen, helium, liquid nitrogen, etc.
4. Expansion valve: used to reduce the pressure of the refrigerant to reduce the temperature.
Refrigeration principles and implementation methods
The cryogenic cooling system achieves refrigeration based on the enthalpy change of low-temperature gas. In a refrigeration system, the coolant is compressed, causing its temperature to rise, and then the heat is dissipated through the refrigerant in the heat sink, thereby lowering the temperature. This decrease in temperature causes the pressure of the coolant to decrease, and the steam is then expanded by the evaporator, further enhancing the cooling effect.
The implementation methods of cryogenic cooling system include expansion refrigeration, absorption refrigeration and compression refrigeration. Among them, compression refrigeration is the most commonly used refrigeration method. It uses a compressor to pressurize the fluid, and then passes it through the heat exchanger to cool down the fluid.
In short, cryogenic cooling system is a high-tech refrigeration technology that has wide applications in semiconductor manufacturing, scientific research and other fields. Through the cooperation of four working fluids, the system can achieve extremely low temperatures and provide solid support for research and practice in related fields.
