Definition of refrigeration and cryogenics
Cryogenics refers to ambient temperatures below -150°C, which can be achieved using refrigerant cooling or special media such as liquid nitrogen and liquid hydrogen. It is usually used in fields such as material preparation, cryopreservation and precision physics experiments.
Refrigeration refers to temperatures below 0°C, usually referring to the temperature control range in homes and industrial places, and also includes the cooling range of media such as liquid nitrogen.
Temperature range of refrigeration and cryogenics
Cryogenics are usually below -150°C. Common ultra-low temperature environments include -196°C liquid nitrogen, -269°C liquid hydrogen, -271°C He-3, etc.
Refrigeration generally refers to the environment below 0℃, with a wide temperature range. Common low temperature environments include 4℃, -25℃, -45℃, liquid nitrogen -196℃, etc.
Application fields of refrigeration and cryogenics
Cryogenics are used in fields such as material preparation, cryopreservation and precision physical experiments. In terms of material preparation, cryogenics can be used to prepare high-quality materials, such as high-purity metals, semiconductors, and optical communication materials; in terms of cryopreservation, cryogenics can be used for the long-term preservation and transportation of biological samples, such as blood, cells, tissue samples, and Fertilized eggs, etc.; in terms of physical experiments, cryogenics can be used to study the quantum properties of matter, superconductivity, black holes, etc.
Refrigeration is widely used in fields such as food refrigeration, pharmaceutical preservation, semiconductor manufacturing, natural gas liquefaction and petrochemical industry. In the field of food refrigeration, refrigeration can be used to refrigerate fruits, vegetables, meat and other foods, effectively extending the shelf life of food; in the field of medical preservation, refrigeration is often used to preserve vaccines, plasma, medicines, etc.; in semiconductor manufacturing, refrigeration can be used It is used to manufacture high-purity semiconductor materials, such as silicon wafers; in natural gas liquefaction and petrochemical industry, refrigeration can be used to liquefy natural gas and separate petroleum products.
The difference between refrigeration and cryogenics
Cryogenics and refrigeration differ in their temperature ranges and application areas. Cryogenics are generally used to prepare high-quality materials and conduct precise physical experiments; refrigeration is widely used in temperature control in homes and industrial places and in various industrial fields.
