The Reason why the Suction Pressure of the Chiller is too Low

What is the reason for the low suction pressure of the chiller? How should we solve this problem? In fact, there are many reasons why the suction pressure of the chiller is too low, so let’s briefly talk about the cause of this problem and its solution.

Cause of issue:

1. The refrigerant filter is blocked. Filters should be cleaned or replaced regularly.

2. The expansion valve is improperly adjusted or malfunctions. It needs to be adjusted correctly or faulty should be eliminated, and replaced if necessary.

3. Excess lubricating oil circulates in the refrigeration system of the chiller. The reason should be found out and reduced to an appropriate value.

4. The inlet water temperature of the evaporator is too low. Increase the inlet water temperature set point.

Solution: Since the cooling water is an open circulation loop, the tap water generally used is circulated through the cooling tower. When the content of calcium salt and magnesium salt in the water is large, it is easy to decompose and deposit on the cooling water pipe to form scale, which affects heat transfer. Excessive scaling will also reduce the flow section of cooling water, reduce the amount of water, and increase the condensation pressure. Therefore, when the water quality of the cooling water used is poor, the cooling water pipes should be cleaned at least once a year to remove scale and other dirt in the pipes and prevent pipeline blockage.
